Ingredients
- 12 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 Tbsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 1/2 cups shortening
- 2 1/2 cups lard
- 3/4 to 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar (for topping)
- 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Sift together all dry ingredients into a bowl and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whip together the shortening and lard until nice and light.
- Add the dry mixture slowly, one cup at a time (use cups only first).
- Knead the dough by hand until you form a good, nice dough ball.
- Sprinkle flour on counter top and roll dough out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
- Place cookies on a cookie sheet and bake for about 20 minutes.
- To make topping: Mix together sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
- When cookies come out of the oven, place one by one into the topping mixture and coat well.
- Place cookies on a cooling rack to finish cooling.
