Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin
- 1 tsp of finely shredded lemon peel or orange peel
- 3/4 cup of lemon juice
- 1 cup of milk
- 4 cups of water
- A few drops of yellow food coloring
Instructions
- In a saucepan, mix sugar and gelatin; add 3 cups of water and stir until sugar and gelatin dissolve.
- Remove from heat. Add lemon peel, lemon juice, milk, and food coloring. Mix well.
- Transfer to a 9x9x2 inch baking pan. Cover and freeze for 2-3 hours or until almost firm.
- Break mixture into small chunks. Transfer to a chilled bowl and beat with an electric mixer till smooth.
- Return to pan, cover, and freeze until firm. Serves 6-20 and makes two quarts.
