Caramel Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 stick of butter or margarine (melted)
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 gallon of popped corn (lightly salted)

Instructions

  1. Use a two-quart pan.
  2. Mix sugar, water, butter, and cream of tartar well.
  3. Cook over medium heat until syrup becomes light brown.
  4. Do not stir while cooking (takes about twenty minutes).
  5. Remove from heat, add soda, and beat quickly (mixture will swell).
  6. Pour over popcorn, mix well.
  7. Let it harden.
  8. Can also be made into balls.
