Ingredients
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of light corn syrup
- Dash of salt
- 2 cups of raw peanuts
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
Instructions
- Butter two large cookie sheets.
- In a heavy 4 qt. Dutch oven, combine sugars, water, corn syrup, and salt.
- Mix sugars, stirring constantly, and cook until candy reaches hard crack stage (280 degrees).
- Cook 4 minutes. The peanuts will roast as they cook.
- Remove from heat and thoroughly stir in the baking soda.
- Pour onto buttered sheets, trying to spread it as evenly as possible with a knife.
- Store in a tightly covered tin. Make sure it is completely cooled first.
- Makes about two pounds of candy.
